Fetus-in-Fetu: A Rare Entity

Background : Fetus in fetu is a rare congenital anomaly which malformed fetus or parasitic grows within the body of its twin. It twin Diamniotic, monozygotic often overlooked differential diagnosis an abdominal mass infants and children. Teratoma one closest differentials must be excluded. Unlike teratomas, benign disorder.  Case Presentation: On 6th June 2021, two years boy was brought by his parents Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment with complains mass, occasional pain loss appetite. patient evaluated radiologically plain radiographs, USG pre & post contrast CT scan abdomen. All radiological modalities showed left lumber region having internal bony structures likelong bone, vertebra teeth. played vital role clearly demonstrating bones confirming presence vertebra. Radiologically made as fetus-in-fetu possibility excluded underwent surgery completely excised. A deformed enclosed complete capsule removed from patient’s cavity. Autopsy specimen limbs, vertebra, long other soft tissue, organogenesis around axis histopathology confirmed bone marrow, cardiac muscle, nerve intestine, renal tubules glomerulus, lymphoid respiratory epithelium skin. were compatible Conclusion Although condition, correct using imaging can before surgery. should considered diffential lump abdomen especially infant. Complete excision curative.
